Hey hey!!!
Suddenly remembered this story rajesh told us in class..thought it was quite nice..so decided to tell u all lo!!!*^^*
Ceres was a beautiful goddess of harvest, cereal and fertility. She made the flowers bloom, the gardens grow, the fruits ripen, and of course, people on earth enjoyed a good life. No one went hungry and there was peace and happiness, just like what it should be. Life was just brilliant as she lived on happily with her beautiful daughter Poserpina.
Yet, unknowing to her, something very dreadful is running through Venus’s mind. In order to bring love to Pluto, she called out for cupid, her son. And ever since, Pluto became infatuated with the beautiful Porsepina and went on to abduct her, bringing her to the Hades.
At this point, Ceres was deeply devastated. She missed her daughter dearly and dreamt of the wonderful times they spent together. Soaked up in tears, Ceres could no longer watch over nature and its harvests. The fields went barren and there were no fruits or vegetables to speak of. Porsepina, on the other hand, was retaliating against Pluto. She refused all food and through the bittering cold, hard days, she thought of her mother, weeping. Still, the days flew by and the birds came and went, unable to curb her hunger, Porsepina ate four promegranate seeds, which Pluto had earlier offered her.
